Super Flower Blood Moon Themed Intimate St. Augustine Beach Elopement
Being a deeply spiritual person, Chelsea planned her elopement ceremony to fall on a super special date – 2022’s first total lunar eclipse! A lunar eclipse is a signal marking endings and major changes, which is of course super fitting when two people decide to dedicate their lives to one another.
The May 2022 blood moon is rumored to bring us growth and transformation. The way the moon showed off that night, I have no doubt that it will!
Preparations began at a nearby hotel where Clayton and their son Ryan helped each other suit up and headed to Matanzas, St. Augustine beach to wait for the first look together. Chelsea followed in the mini limo she rented for the occasion.
It was beautiful to watch the emotions and anticipation that Ryan was experiencing while patiently waiting for mom to walk down the boardwalk for their first look. Clayton’s teary eyed reaction after he turned around and saw Chelsea in her dress had me trying not to sob behind the lens.
I was loving documenting all the feels as the little family huddled together and hugged under the crescent moon altar piece.
The ceremony was spiritual and intimate. After the exchanging of rings, Ryan tied a ribbon around their hands to signify the bond. He was so happy to be a part of the ceremony. Truth is, I think children especially appreciate when they are included in family traditions and rituals.
After their first kiss and champagne pop, the family celebrated further by cutting the cake.
To kick off their bridal portraits, I asked the newlyweds to share a first dance. I especially love those photos! I also enjoyed having Clayton lead his crew through the rocks in a symbol of family unity and teamwork.
So many smiles and kisses were shared on the beach that day. There wasn’t a soul there except for us and the air was serene and charged with that full moon energy. As it got darker, the eclipse started and we got to take some selfies in front of a giant orange blood moon. It was breathtaking!
We finished the night across the street getting artistic shots in front of their crimson Mustang.
As we said our goodbyes under the flower blood moon sky, I truly felt a special bond. I always say that is so important to vibe with your photographer on your big day. With Chelsea, Clayton and Ryan, I know that a powerful connection was made and I am so hopeful that our paths will cross again soon! <3
