White Room Wedding | St. Augustine Florida | Kayla + Michael

Have you ever met someone who simply goes with the flow? That is 1000 percent how Kayla was on her wedding day. Michael and Kayla got married six years ago in their early twenties (as I learned during speeches). They got hitched right on the dock by the iconic Bridge of Lions in Saint Augustine Florida, right in the historic downtown district. Their formal wedding took place at the White Room, on the rooftop overlooking the bridge.

Kayla’s sole wish was for their first look to take place near their original wedding spot. It was perfect. Yes, in typical Florida fashion, the weather was hot, humid and sunny but the afternoon thunderstorms held off until speech time, so we were able to take advantage of the vibrant downtown architecture for bridal portraits and group shots.

I lied! Kayla had two wishes: first look location request AND she wanted Michael and herself to be fully present during their cocktail hour. And I was happy to oblige! For those of you who don’t know me: I am super passionate about every couple being able to enjoy drinks and bonding time with their family and friends during cocktail hour. I am currently working on what I am calling the Freedom-Based Timeline. I am going to roll it out to potential clients, clients, and anyone else who will listen. Basically, it stresses quality time with family and friends during the wedding and presents alternatives to the traditional wedding timeline.

So, back to the story of K + M’s celebration! After the happy couple got to visit with their family/friends, I whisked them off for some sunset portraits around downtown. We came back to find the main entrance to our party room locked so we snuck in through the fire escape (back door). We heard loud music and started to go inside, and then quickly realized - that’s not our floor and that’s not our party! LOL! So we may have unintentionally tried to crash someone else’s wedding, but only for a second! Now I know that White Room has several floors and rooms that go at the same time. :-P

Backstory about Kayla: she and her friends danced their butts off in the bridal suite as they were getting ready. Turns out: K’s entire crew are dancers, they all attend dance fitness classes together and were having a BALL! Naturally, dance time was very important during this wedding so I took about 2732846 pictures of everyone getting down on the floor. Even better: K and M’s families and friends ALL love to dance, so this was a dance party to remember! I had so much fun dancing to the early 2000’s while getting a million candid photos of everyone having fun.

It’s no secret that I am into what I do. I love weddings, I love being around a celebration and I love it when my couples are truly present and themselves the whole day and trust me to take care of the rest. That is when I truly thrive as a creator.

Thank you guys, so much!
