The traditional Indian wedding mood board presented by Priya + Mohit’s wedding planner Rae Nicole Events, consisted of a mixture of candids and portraits from Indian ceremonies, dreamy receptions in candle light, henna applications, colorful umbrellas, and intricate decorations. The decor and set-up drew its inspiration from Tuscan influence, no doubt a reflection of the wedding venue. Mission Inn Resort & Club in Central Florida has an abundance of European inspired architecture and plazas, golf fields, fountains, and gorgeous mossy oak and cypress waterfront backdrops.

After I was hired to shoot Priya and Mohit’s traditional Indian wedding, the first thing I did was look up each part of the two-day celebration, study their history and understand the significance of the rituals and ceremonies that were going to take place.

Priya and Mohit weren’t able to have all of their family join them from India, but the ones present were close-knit, supporting, and loving.

Haldi was by far my favorite ceremony! Blessings in the form of Tumeric were bestowed on the bride-to-be on the morning before the wedding. She did not seem one bit upset by this messy ordeal. In fact, she was radiating joy and love.

I cannot express how exciting it was for me to be dipped for two full days into the customs and traditions of this wonderful family and their friends.

The part I enjoyed the most was how happy and outgoing everyone was during the wedding day. The kind of enthusiasm that was shown during Baraat (groom riding the horse drawn carriage), blew me away! What a fun way to arrive in style. :-)

The ceremony itself was light hearted but traditional as well. I really appreciated that the priest translated most of the scripture for the English-speaking guests to be able to understand and follow along. He was refreshing and sprinkled a bit of his own humor on some of the more rigid text.

Words are not enough to portray the beauty of the candle-lit unique secret garden space where the couple and their loved ones held their reception. You will just have to scroll down and check out the photos.

What an honor it was to capture a mixture of traditions, family love, culture, architecture, intricacy, delight and beauty. Two days that I won’t forget! Thank you to Priya, Mohit, and everyone involved for the opportunity.
