Nights of Lights in historic downtown St Augustine is a magical time starting on November 19 and ending on January 31. The city is adorned with over 3 million lights and is unbelievably romantic for nighttime couples’ photos. If you get engaged in the fall, on Thanksgiving or on Christmas, you should absolutely do an engagement photoshoot in Ancient City. The vibes can be classic, vintage, old money or chic depending on your style.

Downtown Historic St Augustine is full of magical photo shoot locations. The city does not disappoint when it comes to selecting an aesthetically pleasing location for your engagement shoot. We have cobblestone streets, the Bayfront, the Lions Bridge, Flagler College, Lightner Museum, numerous tiny shops and delicious restaurants & bars. For Alyssa and Chris’s session, we started with a cheers at the Vintage, Industrial bar + farm-to-table restaurant on the outskirts of town, The Ice Plant. It went perfectly with their preferred vintage, classic, old money vibes.

Contrary to popular opinion, photo sessions do not have to all be done in golden hour lighting. In fact, blue hour, the hour right before/after sunset can be so amazing for moody vibes. This is my favorite semi-secret field in St Augustine, Florida, and apparently at blue hour it becomes the perfect spot for a steamy moody motorcycle couples shoot!

As a non-traditional creative and documentary style photographer, I often get inspiration from the couples questionnaire that I send out as part of my booking process. I believe photography is a collaboration between the artist and his/her muse(s). I especially love indoor couples photography, because in a tight space, I am forced to get creative and it feels natural to be up in each other’s bubble which is key to my sensual style.
